How to Cancel Max Directly on the Website
Go to max.com and sign in. Click your profile icon in the top-right and select "Account". Under "Plan & Payment", click "Cancel Plan". Max walks you through a brief retention flow before the confirmation screen. Your access continues to the end of the current billing period. If you subscribed through a third party, Max will display the name of the billing platform instead of offering a cancel button — use that platform's cancellation process instead.
How to Cancel Max Through Apple, Google, or Amazon
On iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Max → Cancel Subscription. On Android: Google Play → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Max → Cancel. Through Amazon Channels: amazon.com → Account → Memberships & Subscriptions → Max → Cancel Channel. If you originally subscribed through a Roku, Samsung TV, or other smart TV app, go to that device's subscription management settings and cancel there. The key sign that a third party manages your billing: your Max account page says "Managed by" with the platform name.
Cancelling Max When It's Part of a Cable or Internet Bundle
Many US cable and internet providers (AT&T, Spectrum, Hulu Live TV) include Max as part of a bundle. In this case, cancelling Max requires contacting your provider directly — you cannot cancel it from the Max website or app. If you cancel the bundle to drop Max, you may also lose other services included in the package. Call your provider or manage the bundle online through your account portal. If you're not sure whether Max is included in a bundle, check your provider's bill rather than the Max app.
What You Keep After Cancelling
Your Max account and watchlist are retained after cancellation. If you resubscribe later, your favourites, continue-watching list, and profile settings are all restored. Downloads for offline viewing are deleted when your subscription ends. HBO content, original Max series, and live sports (if on the Ultimate tier) all become inaccessible. The free-tier preview that Max offered in some markets is no longer available, so cancellation means full loss of access.
