How to Cancel Your Spotify Subscription

Cancel Spotify Premium in minutes. Step-by-step instructions for web, iPhone, and Android — including what happens to your playlists and downloads.

Spotify Premium costs $10.99 per month for individuals, and cancelling is quick if you know where to look. The most common problem: people try to cancel inside the Spotify app on their phone, but that option doesn't exist there. You either cancel on the web (if you subscribed directly) or through Apple and Google (if you signed up via their app stores). Here's the exact path for each.

1

How to Cancel Spotify Premium on the Web

Go to spotify.com on a desktop or mobile browser and sign in. Click your profile picture in the top-right corner and select "Account". In the left-hand menu, click "Your plan". Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "Change or cancel your plan", then select "Cancel Premium". Spotify will confirm your end date — you keep Premium until that date. You may be offered a discounted plan or a pause option before reaching the final confirmation. If you want to fully cancel, decline these and confirm the cancellation.

2

How to Cancel Spotify on iPhone (App Store Subscription)

If you originally subscribed using the iOS Spotify app, your billing goes through Apple. You must cancel through Apple — Spotify's website will show your plan as active but won't give you a cancel option. On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name at the top, then tap "Subscriptions". Find Spotify in the list and tap it, then tap "Cancel Subscription" and confirm. Your Premium access continues until the current billing period ends, after which you move to the free tier.

How to Cancel Spotify on Android (Google Play)

If you signed up through the Google Play Store, open the Play Store app and tap your profile icon. Go to "Payments & subscriptions" → "Subscriptions". Tap Spotify in the list, then tap "Cancel subscription" and follow the confirmation steps. If you subscribed directly through Spotify's website, the Play Store won't show a Spotify subscription — use the web method above instead.

What Happens to Your Playlists and Downloads After Cancelling

Your Spotify account is not deleted when you cancel Premium. All your playlists, saved albums, followed artists, and podcast subscriptions are preserved on the free tier indefinitely. You'll lose the ability to download music for offline listening, and ads will return between songs on mobile. Shuffle-only playback restrictions on mobile also return for non-Premium users. If you're on Spotify Family or Duo, cancelling the plan affects all members — they each revert to free accounts at the same time.
