How to Cancel Your Calm Subscription

Cancel Calm Premium on iPhone, Android, or the web — and check whether a refund is available if you were recently charged.

Calm Premium costs $14.99/month or $69.99/year. Like other wellness apps, it's one of the categories with the highest rate of "forgetting I'm paying for it." The app is useful when you use it regularly, but usage tends to drop off quickly — and the subscription continues silently. Here's how to cancel and what to check about refunds.

1

How to Cancel Calm on iPhone (App Store)

Most Calm subscriptions are purchased through the iOS App Store. Cancel by going to Settings on your iPhone → your name → Subscriptions → Calm → Cancel Subscription. Confirm the cancellation. Your Premium access continues until the end of the billing period, then the app reverts to the limited free tier. If you were recently charged for an annual renewal you didn't intend, go to reportaproblem.apple.com within 90 days and request a refund — Apple considers these case by case.

2

How to Cancel Calm on Android or the Web

On Android: Google Play → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Calm → Cancel subscription. On the web: go to calm.com and sign in. Click your profile icon → "Account" → "Subscription" → "Cancel Subscription". If your Calm subscription is through your employer as a wellness benefit, you cannot cancel directly — it's managed through your HR or benefits provider.

What the Free Tier Includes

Calm's free tier gives you access to a limited selection of meditations, the Daily Calm meditation (one new session per day), and a subset of the sleep stories. Premium unlocks the full library of 100+ guided meditations, all sleep stories, breathing programs, masterclasses, and offline downloads. If you used Calm mainly for the Daily Calm or one or two meditations, the free tier may be sufficient. The free tier requires the app to be open and active, so offline listening isn't available.

Free Alternatives to Calm

Insight Timer is the strongest free alternative — it has thousands of free guided meditations, sleep tracks, and ambient sounds, with no paywalled core features. YouTube has high-quality guided sleep meditations and mindfulness content at no cost. The Waking Up app by Sam Harris has a free tier with a limited but high-quality meditation library, with a scholarship program for users who can't afford the paid tier. Headspace offers a similar free trial structure to Calm if you're switching between the two.
