How to Cancel Your ChatGPT Plus Subscription

Log in to chatgpt.com. Click your profile icon or name in the bottom-left corner of the screen. Click "My plan" from the menu. In the plan panel that opens on the right, click "Manage my subscription" — this opens a Stripe-powered billing page. On the billing page, click "Cancel plan". Stripe will ask you to confirm and may offer a pause option as an alternative. Confirm the cancellation. Your Plus access continues until the end of your current billing period, after which your account moves to the free tier automatically.

If you subscribed through the ChatGPT iOS app, billing goes through Apple and you cannot cancel via the OpenAI website. Open the Settings app on your iPhone, tap your name at the top, then tap "Subscriptions". Find "ChatGPT" in the list and tap it. Tap "Cancel Subscription" and confirm. Your Plus access continues until the end of the billing period. If you don't see ChatGPT in your subscriptions list, it means you subscribed directly through OpenAI — use the website method above.

If you subscribed through the Android app, you'll need to cancel via Google Play. Open the Play Store app, tap your profile icon in the top-right, then go to "Payments & subscriptions" → "Subscriptions". Find ChatGPT in the list, tap it, then tap "Cancel subscription" and follow the prompts. Your Plus features remain active until the end of the paid billing period.

After your Plus period ends, your account moves to the free tier. You lose access to: the latest GPT-4o model (and future flagship models), priority access during high-traffic periods, higher message limits, DALL·E image generation, and advanced data analysis. You keep access to: your full conversation history, the free-tier version of ChatGPT (currently GPT-4o mini), and any custom GPTs you've created (though they will run on the free model). Your account and data are not deleted.
